It still amazes me to think that I have been in the nursing profession for over 10 years. Despite it being a very stressful & emotionally draining job, it has given me so many opportunities & lessons.
Here’s what I have learned in those years I’ve worked as an ICU nurse and a nurse practitioner:
✨ Nursing opens your eyes to the realities of life, death & everything in between.
✨You’ll realize the power of listening & a warm blanket.
✨ Investing in good work shoes, soft scrubs & the most comfortable bed can make a difference
✨Never take for granted the small things like being able to move or talk
✨ *Some* patient’s will mistreat you but most will appreciate what you do for them
✨Legislations need to change in healthcare so nurses can provide a safer environment to provide care.
lastly,
✨ As a nurse, take care of YOURSELF. You can’t pour from an empty cup.
Nursing is a stable, lucrative & rewarding career & I wouldn’t have it any other way!
Happy Nurses Week!
